I had noticed recently, and observed to a friend of mine, that there were few Obama bumper stickers and yard signs in the liberal enclaves of Madison, Wi and Chicago where I travelled recently.
I found them all in San Francisco this past weekend. In fact, I think that it is a state law in Cali that everyone must be in possession of some type of Obama gear, and being good citizens, all complied............all except some right wing nut in the Golden Gate Park with a McCain/Palin bumper sticker. To be fair to the fellow, he did have a pretty beat up old volvo, so I suppose that he wasn't risking that much by his bravery, probably had it insured to the max hoping someone would take him out.
To be also fair, BHO DID win the election so we have to give him his due, but if the dancing girls and free beer and wine don't show up by Memorial day then there will be heck to pay. For now, lets all hold our tongues and hum "Hail to the Chief"
On a lighter note, Taylor and I did have a wonderful weekend in San Fran, it really is a beautiful city and lovely to visit. we did the usual touristy things, visited the Golden Gate Bridge, wine country, the various neighorhoods and in general relaxed. Photos later............................

obx marathon
taylor and I finished the Outer Banks marathon, a really great feat for her, as she was in severe pain from her hip down her leg. I had a pretty uneventful run, which is the best kind I suppose. Four hours, fourteen minutes overall on a wonderful day, gentle breeze with 60 degree weather. A perfect day all round. I thought that the course was wonderful and I am eagerly anticipating the next marathon.
So off we go on vacation next, to San Francisco, more soon with pictures of the marathon to follow.

soccer for 10 year olds
Soccer for ten/eleven year old boys is an interesting experience. You see the best and worst of mankind, the strength of young men and the wekness and vunerablity of children. We had all today, the joy of a victory, the agony of injury (with associated tears) the cooperation of teammates and the selfishness of individuality of those that want to score for their own glory.
But we perservered and won, finishing the season on a high note with bookend wins, in the first game and in the last game with a tie in the middle, so 2-4-1 for the year. I was proud of the kids, I hope they learned the lesson that they exhibited today, that being positive and playing for and with others yields positive results. That contrasted with the negative back talking of last week.
Perhaps us adults should learn the same
